I have been 19:10:12 <alket> using Mageia about a week now but I was an ubuntu user for 10 years. So far I 19:10:13 <alket> like Mageias approach, specially the community effort and thats the reason I 19:10:15 <alket> want to get involved. I am fairly new to packaging but I hope with your 19:10:16 <alket> mentoring program and wonderful community, I can start contributing soon. 19:10:18 <alket> Thanks. 19:10:19 <alket> sorry for the flood 19:10:32 <Stormi> welcome :) 19:10:34 <MrsB> wow that's a good introduction! 19:10:57 <alket> ok sorry, not about a week, but about 3 months 19:11:00 <wilcal> Which year in school 19:11:04 <MrsB> well we grow through contribution, both as a community and personally 19:11:07 <alket> i just copied and pasted from a sent email 19:11:34 <Stormi> that saves time 19:11:43 <MrsB> I'm Claire, QA team leader, based in the UK. I admit to 38 years. 19:12:09 <MrsB> come on guys 19:12:25 <wilcal> "wilcal" for (Wil)liam in (Cal)ifornia, live near San Diego ( Surf City USA ) 19:12:26 <wilcal> First official College computer class in Sept 1964, Computer Engineer 1968 19:12:31 <brian__> Hi - I'm Brian from Illinois, USA. I can spell Linux, relatively new to the team 19:12:37 <MrsB> lol 19:12:38 <rindolf> alket: welcome aboard. 19:12:43 <Luigi12_work> I'm one of several David's around here, I keep QA busy with security updates 19:12:52 <alket> wilcal: im in first year at university, but im quite late, im 25 years old 19:12:58 <alket> thank you guys 19:13:07 <wilcal> execellet 19:13:10 <rindolf> I'm Shlomi from Tel Aviv, Israel. 19:13:36 <Stormi> I'm Samuel, Mandriva then Mageia user and contributor from France, contributing in various fields depending on my motivation, time and the needs I see. Former QA deputy leader, currently Bug Squad co-leader. A bit packager, a bit developer, a bit tool provider. 19:13:36 <wilcal> your never too late to go to school 19:13:49 <Luigi12_work> indeed 19:13:51 <MrsB> You'll find the community is welcoming and the only real limits on your contribution are your own, so don't be afraid to get stuck in and have a go t things 19:14:00 <Luigi12_work> I went back to college full-time when I was 26 19:14:08 <alket> thanks 19:14:51 <MrsB> Let's move on then, we're going in a funny order today so David can get back to teaching 19:15:00 <MrsB> #topic Luigi's Roundup 19:15:09 <MrsB> ping :) 19:15:12 <Luigi12_work> w00t 19:15:45 <Luigi12_work> filed a bug for shutter this week, but david_david said the package is currently completely broken, so might need some help fixing that before it can be patched for the security issue 19:16:02 <Luigi12_work> filed yet another bug for two more Qemu CVEs this week. Not sure when we'll push the next update for that one. 19:16:11 <rindolf> Luigi12_work: ah, I'm using shutter. 19:16:23 <MrsB> that's your one then rindolf 19:16:24 <Luigi12_work> rindolf: https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16754 if you can help 19:17:22 <Luigi12_work> I'm working on a Moodle update, trying to get ready to upgrade our Moodle server at work to mga5. Will be adding a question type and theme to the package, in addition to the security update. Also, the preg question type has an update for Moodle 2.8, which is what we have. I talked to the upstream author about some issues with that today. 19:17:28 <MrsB> #info Coming soon: shutter (david G might need help fixing), another qemu update coming, soonish 19:17:33 <Luigi12_work> hopefully will have that update ready tomorrow or Monday 19:18:12 <MrsB> #info moodle again (adding question type and a theme to the package) 19:18:22 <MrsB> will that itnerfere with installed instances? 19:18:22 <Luigi12_work> also a denial of service issue in rpcbind, sounds serious, there's a suggested patch, waiting for upstream to ACK it or someone else to decide to go with it, so might have that ready soon 19:18:35 <Luigi12_work> MrsB: not interfere, no 19:18:51 <Luigi12_work> when you do the upgrade it will give you a one-time look at its configuration parameters (for the theme anyway) 19:19:02 <Luigi12_work> you can easily scroll past those and click Continue 19:19:15 <MrsB> ok 19:19:16 <Luigi12_work> had to add it though, the default theme in Moodle 2.8 is new and it's basically totally unusable 19:19:30 <Luigi12_work> displays all of our quizzes incorrectly :o( 19:19:41 <Luigi12_work> I tried like 15 other themes and only found one that was OK 19:19:54 <MrsB> #info rpcbind DOS waiting for upstream to OK a patch 19:20:15 <Luigi12_work> that's it for the roundup. I have some comments on the bugs currently in testing. 19:20:40 <MrsB> Thanks then, let's do that next 19:20:49 <MrsB> #topic Testing updates 19:21:06 <MrsB> you go first then 19:21:14 <Luigi12_work> ok, tmb has pushed new kernel updates to QA, they are actually fully ready for testing this time, all kmod rebuilds are available. VirtualBox has been updated to 5.0.4 as well (bugfix update). 19:21:28 <MrsB> yep saw that 19:21:29 <Luigi12_work> The kernel is the big jump to 4.1, so it will need some good testing 19:21:43 <wilcal> lots of different platforms 19:21:46 <Luigi12_work> yep 19:21:55 <wilcal> Vbox & nvidia stuff in there too 19:21:57 <MrsB> we tast them all as well as we're able 19:22:16 <brian__> just let me know when to try 19:22:16 <Luigi12_work> nss-pam-ldapd has a bugfix to its systemd service file, which I already confirmed works correctly. It's not an arch-specific change, so I think it can be validated if someone can do the honors. 19:22:43 <Luigi12_work> just to explain that one, it's the same issue as the dhcp update we just pushed. Systemd changed something between mga4 and mga5 which broke some services. 19:22:49 <MrsB> Well I have soem things to add when you're done 19:23:12 <Luigi12_work> it used to be if a service needed to start after the network was up, you'd do After=network.target. Now that only works sometimes, and sometimes you have to do After=network-online.target instead. I'm not sure why. 19:23:32 <Luigi12_work> so if you see any other services that fail on startup, but work if you manually start them once the system is up, let me know, it might be the same issue. 19:23:38 <MrsB> ok we can check that with the newly fixed rpmdiff on madb \o/ 19:24:05 <Luigi12_work> anyway, only reason I'm in a hurry to get that pushed is that it breaks if you upgrade from mga4 to mga5, and the update fixes it. Since we just killed mga4, wanted to get that out ASAP. 19:24:19 <MrsB> yep 19:24:34 <Luigi12_work> The other one I wanted to get out was the ufdbguard update, which also breaks on mga5, update fixes it. It's easy to test, it's like squidguard if you've ever used that. 19:24:44 <david_david> hello, yes shutter need some help, it is very broken and it is unusable since mga5 :( 19:24:53 <Luigi12_work> ufdbguard has a README.urpmi that tells you what to add to the squid config 19:25:00 <MrsB> hi david_david, hows your hand 19:25:02 <tmb> btw, for kernels... several people have already tested 4.1 series ... and the same ones are currently running in cauldron too ... so testbase is good :) 19:25:30 <Luigi12_work> I just pushed an owncloud update to QA, should be the same testing procedure as last time. That one is no rush though. 19:25:38 <MrsB> not come across afdbguard before but squid is fairly straightforward really 19:25:43 <Luigi12_work> yep 19:25:56 <david_david> MrsB: it's going better but I have to work with the left hand :) 19:26:09 <MrsB> sorry to hear about it david_david 19:26:14 <MrsB> must have hurt like hell 19:26:21 <tmb> david_david, welcome to the club :) 19:26:38 <david_david> tmb: oh yeah :p 19:26:45 <Luigi12_work> finally, I wanted to mention roundcubemail. The first update candidate was built two and a half months ago. It did have a dependency problem which should be fixed now (and that was just fixed somewhat recently). That being said, it's not ideal to have an update sitting for months because we can't figure out how to test it. If we can verify that it installs cleanly, we should let this one go. 19:26:46 <brian__> I'll grab the new version of owncloud 19:26:50 <brian__> I've been having fun with that one 19:27:06 <MrsB> Thanks Luigi12_work, team leader stepping in now :) 19:27:13 <Luigi12_work> LOL 19:27:34 <Luigi12_work> also, I just removed the feedback tag from docker-registry since the packager finally responded, just FYI on that :o) 19:27:44 <MrsB> k'dokes 19:27:45 <Luigi12_work> that's all from me. Thanks everyone! 19:28:01 <MrsB> enjoy your class, thanks 19:28:13 <Luigi12_work> oh BTW, fantastic job testing a million updates in the past month! 19:28:33 <Luigi12_work> see ya 19:28:38 <MrsB> tararabit 19:28:52 <MrsB> #info Well done everybody for clearing the list! 19:29:15 <MrsB> I wanted to do this in a different order really and talk about Mageia 4 first 19:29:58 <MrsB> as we're here though, we'll begin testing on both arches again once Mageia 4 EOL is reached 19:30:27 <MrsB> That gives us two days to clear what we can from the list while the going is easy 19:30:51 <MrsB> The list is looking fantastic, almost down to where we should eb again now 19:30:55 <MrsB> be* 19:31:12 <MrsB> so well done to everybody! 19:31:56 <MrsB> alket in case you're wandering where we're getting all this from it's here.. 19:31:59 <MrsB> http://mageia.madb.org/tools/updates 19:32:07 <alket> thanks 19:32:32 <david_david> tmb: just tested the new kernel-4.1.7 but bootsplash is gone with this one, it boot in text mode 19:32:40 <david_david> mga5* 19:34:11 <MrsB> I agree with most of what Luigi12 said but ust to set the record straight though, roundcubemail has not been ignored was we didn't know how to test it, it's been part of a very long list is all 19:34:49 <MrsB> It's actually fairly easy to test, i'll have a look tomorrow 19:34:57 <MrsB> anybody have any questions? 19:35:45 <brian__> thx - yes when I had bandwidth it wouldn't install 19:35:57 <brian__> not so much bandwidth right now 19:36:54 <brian__> I have one 19:36:57 <brian__> fosdem 19:37:04 <brian__> anybody know the dates and location? 19:37:12 <MrsB> roundcubemail can access an imap server and provide webmail. Once you understand what it does, the previous updates will show you how to test it 19:37:25 <MrsB> I mean't about updates brian__ :P 19:37:31 <brian__> :-) 19:37:43 <tmb> brian__, https://fosdem.org/2016/ 19:37:54 <MrsB> as everybody's asleep lets move on :D 19:38:03 <MrsB> #topic Mageia 4 EOL 19:38:20 <MrsB> So we're reaching the end for Mageia 4 19:38:29 <MrsB> We let it go on the 19th 19:38:54 <brian__> two days 19:39:08 <MrsB> Well doen to all who have helped to clear the list of updates pending for it. It can go in good shape :) 19:39:51 <MrsB> That gives us two days to work on mga5 updates and then we'll go back to normal, testing everything on both arches before validating 19:41:06 <MrsB> Spare a though for it's passing :) 19:41:21 <MrsB> #topic Mageia 6 Features 19:41:56 <MrsB> https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Features_policy 19:42:04 <MrsB> Anybody added any? 19:42:22 <MrsB> everyone is free to propose features for the next release 19:43:08 <brian__> I haven't - but am watching 19:44:07 <MrsB> the features proposed will be discussed in packager team meetings and a set which can be accomplished will be agreed 19:44:17 <MrsB> then work begins! 19:44:18 <tmb> remember that its easier to get something accepted if Resources have specified devs 19:45:12 <MrsB> Well yes, but we don't want to restrict proposals to people who know people, so feel free anyway. It's the idea that counts. 19:45:12 <tmb> as someone have to do the work... 19:45:35 <brian__> yup - thus why I'm typically quiet. There are always LOTS of ideas. 19:46:02 <MrsB> somebody might have a fantastic idea on their first day using mageia 19:46:21 <tmb> yes, someone can go "great idea" so rather one proposal too many than nothing at all 19:47:21 <MrsB> anyway, i'll keep you all updated and anybody can sit in on packager meetings 19:47:27 <wilcal> k 19:47:38 <MrsB> they happen on tuesdays but not as regularly as ours 19:47:38 <tmb> brian__, so go ahead and suggest... if its not done for mga6, then maybe for mga7 and so on... 19:48:19 <brian__> :D 19:48:36 <MrsB> Anyone have any questions about this bit? 19:50:09 <MrsB> Well, as we've doen the roundup and the other bits, we're kind of working backwards now, but that only leaves.. 19:50:17 <MrsB> #topic Anything else? 19:50:24 <MrsB> Is there anything else? 19:50:28 <wilcal> Any idea when Plasma will be in M6? 19:50:43 <rindolf> wilcal: Plasma5? 19:50:47 <wilcal> y 19:50:50 <MrsB> plasma 5 as default you mean? 19:51:00 <wilcal> yes 19:51:04 <rindolf> wilcal: it's already there, just not working too well from ym exp 19:51:07 <MrsB> it's already there but not default yet. 19:51:23 <MrsB> yeah. I think the answer is, when it's ready. 19:51:31 <wilcal> so an install with boot.iso won't put it in 19:51:46 <MrsB> no, you can install it though 19:52:14 <MrsB> it still needs work and is not feature complete yet 19:52:51 <MrsB> Is there anything else else? 19:52:58 <wilcal> not from me 19:53:34 <MrsB> T - 5 then :) 19:53:41 <MrsB> thanks for coming everybody! 19:53:46 <MrsB> same time next week 19:53:49 <MrsB> 4 19:53:51 <MrsB> 3 19:53:52 <MrsB> 2 19:53:54 <MrsB> 1 19:53:56 <MrsB> #endmeeting
