19:04:13 <Inigo_Montoya`> Current chairs: lewyssmith wilcal
19:04:37 <lewyssmith> #topic Who's new? - If you are then come and say hello
19:04:49 <wilcal> hello newbees
19:06:13 <lewyssmith> Looks as if there are none, so
19:06:14 <wilcal> hello tmb good to see you
19:06:16 <lewyssmith> #topic Mageia 5.1 - Waiting for new isos
19:06:29 <lewyssmith> Hello tmb.
19:06:34 <wilcal> anne said shortly a couple days ago
19:07:31 <lewyssmith> They are in the pipeline, surely. It was yesterday that she spoke.
19:07:55 <Guest68697> seems I have issues with nickserv :)
19:08:25 <wilcal> your welcome here under any name :-)
19:09:03 <Guest68697> Anyway, for mga 5.1 isos "we" are waiting for kernel 4.4.22 and nonfree firmwares validation, and tv has some drakx fixes he wanted to add
19:09:17 <tarazed> It still complains about my nickname after two years.
19:09:21 <wilcal> by next qa meeting next week?
19:10:27 <lewyssmith> Kernel 4.4.22 looks good, some nonfree firmwares want testing.
19:10:33 <Guest68697> well iso builds should be somewhat fast... I've queued needed drakx fixes for nvme and kernel 4.4 support, so if tv does not have time, I'd suggest we go with that
19:10:49 <wilcal> anyway 5.1 is a work in progress and hopefully we'll be able to speak to that by next week this time
19:11:04 <Guest68697> I mailed him about ETA today so hopefully...
19:11:32 <wilcal> I've an open weekend so I've got some time
19:12:13 <wilcal> anything else on this
19:12:14 <lewyssmith> BTW I ran itno a problem of kernel-nonfree-firmware with 4.4.22. Perhaps just me.
19:12:39 <Guest68697> lewyssmith, do you have nonfree updates testing enabled ?
19:13:04 <Guest68697> lewyssmith, it should be there unless you hit a broken mirror
19:13:07 <lewyssmith> I needed to install it first. That did not work.
19:13:40 <lewyssmith> Not already having it, it was not visible in updates testing for me.
19:13:43 <Guest68697> lewyssmith, do a: urpmi.update "" && urpmi --media Testing kernel-firmware-nonfree
19:15:14 <Guest68697> the reason for the conflict on kernel-firmware-nonfree is so it gets installed before the kernel, and we get newest firmware in initrd.
19:15:22 <lewyssmith> Will try forthwith. It says it cannot see "Core Release".
19:15:59 <Guest68697> lewyssmith, sounds like a mirror in mid-sync (or broken)
19:16:36 <lewyssmith> OK; Move on..
19:16:55 <lewyssmith> #topic Mageia 6 - What are your experiences?
19:17:19 <wilcal> Today I attempted a 200+ rpm on my x86_64 hw system and it blew up
19:17:38 <wilcal> a complete re-install was successful from boot.iso
19:17:40 <neoclust> wilcal: blew up ?
19:17:56 <wilcal> never came back. I kind of expect that didn't boot
19:18:01 <neoclust> Guest68697: hello :)
19:18:14 <Guest68697> neoclust, hi
19:18:39 <wilcal> I don't hold much in these cauldron updates unless the re-install is not successful for the same thing
19:19:13 <wilcal> so I have a working M6 Plasma system here, and updated
19:19:25 <neoclust> nice :)
19:19:38 <wilcal> Plasma to me is really really nice
19:20:04 <lewyssmith> Are your earlier complaints about icons etc resoved?
19:20:23 <wilcal> BTW I tried a meta-task install of Gnome on a Plasma system ( Vbox client ) and that was not successful
19:20:42 <wilcal> would you expect that to work at this time?
19:20:53 <wilcal> task-gnome
19:22:46 <Guest68697> I think I saw some gnome packages still being fixed/updated for 3.22
19:23:02 <wilcal> well we'll give that a go again soon
19:23:26 <lewyssmith> It is quiet. Shall we move on to the real work in hand?
19:23:27 <wilcal> again installed alone M6-Gnome looks ok
19:23:32 <wilcal> yes
19:23:37 <lewyssmith> #topic Testing updates - Any difficulties, problems, issues?
19:23:56 <lewyssmith> No messing, the list is huge.
19:23:56 <wilcal> Ta Ta I am happy with Virtualbox and the kernel update
19:24:09 <wilcal> Many thanks to tmb
19:24:24 <tarazed> The trouble is some of them take a very long time to sort.
19:24:37 <lewyssmith> As well I know...
19:25:25 <wilcal> move thunderbird along?
19:25:31 <tarazed> I skipped the 32bit rdp test for that reason.
19:25:32 <lewyssmith> Guest68697: tmb, is it worth noting on the 'nonfree frirmware' bug that it should be tried *before* the kernel one. And vice-versa?
19:26:39 <wilcal> I can get to graphicsmagick in the next day or so
19:27:27 <neoclust> wilcal: "move thunderbird along?" ? wdym ?
19:27:28 <lewyssmith> tarazed: I shall poke you on a bug you followed Dave on once in a previous incarnation, but your comments were cryptic.
19:28:10 <Guest68697> lewyssmith, well, I dont expect any problems from the firmware packages, but they need to go out before or at the same time as the kernel, exactly because of the forced conflict
19:28:11 <wilcal> yes's on the testing
19:28:38 <wilcal> should be pushed anyone object
19:29:11 <lewyssmith> No. I can do that unless Dave gets in first.
19:29:23 <wilcal> wireshark on the list and I'll get to that in the ned
19:29:31 <wilcal> next days
19:30:59 <neoclust> wilcal: i think TB can be tagged as validated now
19:31:37 <lewyssmith> I cannot do update tests that require >1 computer (even if VBox), which is limiting.
19:32:06 <wilcal> sounds like a plan neo
19:33:04 <tarazed> lewys: Ok, just noticed your comment
19:33:46 <tarazed> Might look at phpZendFramework - it has a procedure
19:33:51 <lewyssmith> Thunderbird validated; no sooner said than done!
19:34:06 <wilcal> Nice we aim to please
19:34:28 <lewyssmith> Still need to do the advisory though; that takes a bit longer.
19:34:38 <wilcal> No critical Flash updates this week. That's rare
19:34:49 <wilcal> so far
19:35:14 <neoclust> wilcal: i have created TB advisory file, as soon as it is validated, i move it
19:35:23 <wilcal> super
19:36:32 <wilcal> openjpeg2 still stuck?
19:36:44 <wilcal> soooo long on the list
19:36:51 <tarazed> Had little time to study that
19:37:19 <tarazed> The build system is opaque to me
19:38:36 <lewyssmith> tarazed: The thing I referred to was asterisk. I can try if I understood better "Invoked asterisk under root and ran the simple tests. Checked that the -B option worked and accessed the asterix server from another root terminal. After exiting the original session could get back to the server using 'asterisk -r'.
19:39:23 <tarazed> So long ago. Will have a look at it and get back to you. Sometime.
19:40:20 <neoclust> what about : https://bugs.mageia.org/15413 ?
19:40:22 <[mbot> [ Bug 15413 Sane plustek backend does not work with USB 3.0 controllers. ]
19:42:10 <lewyssmith> Do not see it on the list.
19:42:31 <tarazed> But it is still open
19:42:45 <lewyssmith> Oh?
19:42:47 <wilcal> i can try it again
19:43:22 <lewyssmith> Needs specific hardware.
19:45:20 <lewyssmith> BTAIM There is something for everyone. Please keep picking at them.
19:45:59 <lewyssmith> Shall we move on?
19:46:16 <wilcal> yes
19:46:31 <lewyssmith> Your wish is my command...
19:46:34 <lewyssmith> #topic Luigi's roundup - Security news & expected updates
19:46:53 <wilcal> we got lots of updates to work on :-))
19:47:41 <lewyssmith> I think David manifests his presenc by the non-stop arrival of security updates. Despite no roundup.
19:47:57 * Luigi12 is here
19:48:05 <wilcal> Nice!!!!!
19:48:18 <lewyssmith> Speak of the devil...
19:49:27 <Luigi12> bug filed for the kdesu command (kdebase4-runtime package) which needs patches backported by neoclust or the KDE team
19:49:46 <Luigi12> serious local DoS issue for systemd you may have heard about, waiting for coling to finalize that update
19:50:04 <Luigi12> clamav needs an update for mga5. Unfortunately the maintainer has moved on from this world.
19:50:17 <Luigi12> fix in progress by pterjan for an issue in ruby
19:50:40 <Luigi12> bugs filed for pacemaker and perl-DBD-mysql
19:51:02 <Luigi12> Mozilla security audit for dnsmasq found some issues, need the maintainer (julien) to backport some patches
19:51:33 <Luigi12> a handful of X11 client libraries failed to verify correctness of information returned from the X server, someone needs to backport patches for those
19:51:56 <Luigi12> some kmail (kdepim4 package) patches from upstream need to be backported (KDE team again)
19:52:41 <Luigi12> some recent security fixes for ghostscript (issues are exposed by making thumbnails of PDF files by things like imagemagick) need backported, patches didn't look easy to backport to mga5
19:52:56 <Luigi12> bug filed today for freeimage (Akien is the maintainer)
19:53:08 <Luigi12> that's the latest stuff on my list
19:53:16 <lewyssmith> Nice to see you David, & thanks for your continued toil & for showing up.
19:54:49 <Luigi12> you're welcome
19:54:57 <wilcal> lets move on to anything else
19:55:10 <lewyssmith> #topic Anything else?
19:55:40 <wilcal> with tmb here how close are we to pushing Vbox & kernel for M5?
19:56:39 <wilcal> i'd like to get those behind us
19:59:12 <lewyssmith> How is it decided to OK them?
19:59:36 <wilcal> enough people have tested both of them and are happy
19:59:50 <wilcal> kinda becomes a community thumbs up
20:00:03 <lewyssmith> Rephrase: Who decides?
20:00:11 <wilcal> don't have to make that decision today but for sure next QA meeting
20:00:16 <tarazed> What is the etiquette regarding files downloaded from outside sources during testing? Attach them or record the links?
20:00:31 <wilcal> tmb the Davids me anne ect ect
20:00:46 <wilcal> I do both tar
20:01:04 <tarazed> Just making sure.
20:01:12 <wilcal> there's a 1MB size limit on the Bug
20:01:13 <lewyssmith> tarazed: Len my guess is if they are not too big, attach them; otherwise the link.
20:01:32 <wilcal> I also use ZIP on text files
20:02:09 <tarazed> I guess the link provides the ackknowledgement
20:02:21 <lewyssmith> But they can go dead.
20:02:35 <tarazed> Sure.
20:02:52 <wilcal> I have my own webserver here and use that in a link from time to time
20:04:39 <lewyssmith> Quiet tonight. Countdown? Bill, you do endmeeting.
