19:03:52 <wilcal> So welcome to another qa meeting
19:04:26 <wilcal> #topic Who's new?
19:04:34 <wilcal> Anyone new?
19:05:22 <wilcal> On ward
19:05:22 <Benmc> shh, dont all speak at once
19:05:27 <wilcal> #topic M7 RC, Status & Testing
19:05:44 <wilcal> So we have a whole new set of RC isos to tinker with
19:06:15 <wilcal> The Live media isos were published I think yesterday and the CI's a couple days ago
19:06:43 <wilcal> I'mm having very good success with them
19:07:15 <stroibe974> I have tested only the CI so far, and all my installs were successfull
19:07:19 <wilcal> Are there any show stoppers or is there something that can be fixed after release
19:07:42 <stroibe974> in virtualbox, and on a real machine today (the one I am using at this very moment)
19:07:50 <wilcal> I think I saw something that the CI's have to be recut
19:08:14 <wilcal> Also the M7 repo effectively is frozen
19:08:22 <wilcal> I saw no updates today
19:08:28 <Benmc> Lives Firefox first page is not mageia, but is in CIs
19:08:33 <stroibe974> new kernel today
19:08:47 <Benmc> Release notes in CI need to be redone
19:08:58 <wilcal> So that will force a whole new set of RC isos
19:09:21 <Benmc> Rsnapshot-gui is being redone(MCC)
19:09:48 <wilcal> Not that the present set is not useful. Big things like install problems or whatever
19:10:26 <wilcal> hello
19:10:48 <wilcal> pap do you have any updates on the state of M7?
19:11:13 <Benmc> config page has multiple sound card listed - being worked on
19:11:38 <wilcal> So maybe the June 2 release date can be met
19:12:23 <ZekeMX> hello :D
19:12:39 <wilcal> You new here ZekeMx?
19:12:46 <ZekeMX> no
19:12:51 <ZekeMX> I am Ezequiel Sorry
19:13:15 <wilcal> We are discussing the status of M7 in RC status right now
19:13:52 <Benmc> Zeke: how did you get on with your real 32bitter install?
19:14:18 <EzequielPartida> I did install well
19:14:48 <Benmc> how old is that unit?
19:14:59 <EzequielPartida> I did not had the chance to test everything but If I get a problem I will report it for sure today
19:15:05 <Benmc> my one is 2004
19:15:19 <wilcal> OooOoo wow!
19:15:27 <EzequielPartida> Mine around the same.. AMD XP
19:15:38 <hviaene> idem
19:15:47 <Benmc> same xp2400?
19:15:55 <hviaene> butIntel
19:16:05 <EzequielPartida> yes.. xp2400
19:16:37 <Benmc> so, three of us have 32 bitters
19:16:45 <EzequielPartida> it is a small box abou 1/3 of the hight of a normal desktop..
19:18:23 <Benmc> Hviaene: have you tested firefox (after update) on that unit?
19:18:48 <hviaene> yes, it behaved well
19:19:03 <Benmc> 32bit firefox needs to go on the .isos, not included
19:19:35 <Benmc> thatwas my lasy note for rc first round
19:19:44 <Benmc> lasy/last
19:20:06 <hviaene> ButI did no extensive tests, just a Google search and a few Mageia's pages
19:20:56 <Benmc> same here, but current Mga6 latest firefox wont work for me on that unit, so an improvement
19:21:40 <Benmc> anyway - that time again folks, got to go. may catch you later
19:22:59 <wilcal> I have a side point I'm chasing on M7 testing
19:24:10 <wilcal> Vbox 5.x would not support a UEFI client or more then one processor attached to a client
19:24:32 <wilcal> It appears that in Vbox 6.x both of those issues have been resolved
19:24:46 <wilcal> for sure the more then one processor is working well
19:25:17 <wilcal> so that helps testing quite a bit
19:26:51 <wilcal> Testing of M6 -> M7 upgrade has never worked for me so i kinda stay away from trying that
19:28:24 <wilcal> Also I have one I5 platform that I go back and forth between Legacy and UEFI bootloader
19:29:06 <wilcal> and that can at times be distructive on the installed bootloader on the drive. As in the bootloader gets erased
19:29:48 <wilcal> I use the netinstall, instruct it to upgrade to M7, it reinstalls the bootloader and then boots properly
19:30:07 <wilcal> if you always stay with M7 UEFI all the time there's never a problem
19:30:22 <wilcal> I donno if that is a bug or not
19:31:18 <wilcal> If you mistakely have your bios set to boot to Legacy and stick a UEFI drive in there and boot that kiss off the bootloader goodbye
19:31:38 <wilcal> And the other way too
19:34:02 <wilcal> Anything else on M7. We await new RC isos
19:35:51 <wilcal> Lets move on
19:35:52 <wilcal> #topic Testing Updates & Backports
19:36:11 <wilcal> Lots of updates got moved on lots of updates got put on the list
19:36:31 <wilcal> there's been a lot of movement in the last 23-hours with kernel and Vbox updates
19:36:59 <wilcal> tmb had some kernel updates on the list yesterday now their bug is off the list
19:37:12 <wilcal> now there's a Vbox update
19:37:26 <wilcal> so the list is pretty dynamic right now
19:38:51 <Benmc> and back again!
19:39:19 <wilcal> Note that the Updates testing list is pretty dynamic right not
19:39:29 <wilcal> kernel updates on and off
19:39:55 <wilcal> now there's a vbox update in there but the files aren't in there at least a couple hours ago
19:42:00 <wilcal> Any other issues with the items on the updates testing list?
19:43:26 <wilcal> Quiet in here today :-)
19:44:01 <Benmc> maybe just tired
19:44:15 <hviaene> Nothing special here
19:44:24 <wilcal> Lets move on then
19:44:39 <wilcal> #topic Anything else?
19:45:13 <Benmc> Zeke: have you a mentor for QA?
19:45:48 <wilcal> So I'm doing some planning on my hardware platforms here. I have an 8-year old I7 that has an Nvidia board in it and that's gonna go
19:46:38 <wilcal> The series 8000 & 9000 Intel i7's have a graphic controller fast enough that it does not need an nvidia helper board
19:47:08 <wilcal> So when I make the change I will no longer be able to test any nvidia functions
19:47:28 <wilcal> I've never cared for Nvidia anyway
19:47:42 <wilcal> It's really complicated things
19:47:58 <hviaene> What never worked in years, is the second graphic chipset in my Lenovo B50
19:48:18 <Benmc> bequimao: welcome
19:49:35 <hviaene> The default is an Intel HD Graphics 5500
19:49:38 <wilcal> I'm not quite sure where nvidias position in the market now with the on board graphics on AMD & Intel being about to handle 4k and all
19:50:11 <wilcal> Except for gamers and bitcoin mining why do you need an Nvidia board
19:50:35 <hviaene> Because it is there
19:50:46 <wilcal> And most gamers really don't need it
19:51:01 <wilcal> If they have a cpu that's less the 3-years olf
19:51:03 <wilcal> old
19:52:04 <wilcal> FWIW even 4k movies on Super Ultra Blu-Ray discs are running at 23.96 frames per second
19:52:18 <wilcal> Not 120 frames per second
19:52:44 <wilcal> Anything else
19:52:50 <hviaene> Leaving now, g'night all
19:52:54 <wilcal> Big isssue today is bye
19:53:27 <wilcal> big issue today is awaiting new RC isos and hopefully those will be the last ones
19:53:41 <wilcal> work the updates list as best you can
19:53:55 <wilcal> countdown time
19:54:00 <wilcal> T-5
19:54:11 <wilcal> thanks for coming and talk to you next week
19:54:13 <wilcal> T-4
19:54:20 <stroibe974> thank you wilcal !
19:54:28 <wilcal> T-3
19:54:34 <wilcal> T-2
